Nutrient uptake of catch crops under non‐limiting growth conditions

چکیده

Abstract Background Catch crops enhance nutrient cycling of cropping systems. Considering possible limitations catch crop studies in field and greenhouse experiments, a new approach was chosen to combine the advantages both systems quantifying potential for retention by crops. Aims This study aimed at identifying N, P, K uptake different species grown monoculture as mixture under non‐limiting growth conditions terms water availability. Methods were cultivated semi‐controlled large containers (August November 2020). Shoot uptake, leachate accumulation, soil N min , CAL‐P, CAL‐K (0–30 cm) quantified after harvest. After washing, root parameters with scanner. Results Nutrient highest phacelia. The seven performed equally well. closely related length surface area. Conclusions Under conditions, phacelia has conserve succeeding crop; however, low C : ratio frost‐sensitive could promote losses during winter. We conclude that growing single can be effective reducing leaching cultivating when nutrients are no growth‐limiting factors.

Effect of mycorrhiza application on plant growth and nutrient uptake in cucumber production under field conditions

Mycorrhiza application in horticultural production in the Eastern Mediterranean region of Turkey has been studied under field conditions for several years. The effects of different arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have been evaluated under field conditions for cucumber production. The parameters measured were seedling survival, plant growth and yield, and root colonization. In 1998 and 1999, ...

Nutrient uptake of peanut genotypes under different water regimes

Drought is a serious environmental stress limiting growth and productivity in peanut and other crops. Nutrient uptake of peanut is reduced under drought condition, which reduces yield. The objectives of this study were to investigate nutrient uptake of peanut genotypes in response to drought and to estimate the relationship between nutrient uptake and peanut yield under different water regi...

Nematodes enhance plant growth and nutrient uptake under C and N-rich conditions

The role of soil fauna in crucial ecosystem services such as nutrient cycling remains poorly quantified, mainly because of the overly reductionistic approach adopted in most experimental studies. Given that increasing nitrogen inputs in various ecosystems influence the structure and functioning of soil microbes and the activity of fauna, we aimed to quantify the role of the entire soil nematode...

Stimulated fine root growth benefits maize nutrient uptake under optimized nitrogen management

Optimized nitrogen (N) management reduces total N application without sacrificing cropyield. However, the underlining mechanisms have not been well investigated, especially lackingthe evidence from roots. Here we performed a two-year field experiment with maize grownunder zero-N, conventional N and optimized N applications and examined grain yield, N,phosphorous (P) and potassium (K) uptake and...

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi increased growth, nutrient uptake and tolerance to salinity in olive trees under nursery conditions.

Inoculating olive plantlets with the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) Glomus mosseae, Glomus intraradices or Glomus claroideum increased plant growth and the ability to acquire nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from non-saline as well as saline media. AMF-colonized plants also increased in survival rate after transplant. Osmotic stress caused by NaCl supply reduced stem diameter, number of ...
